While Buck and Rocks tended to island business Baron was in Boston setting up a salon for the boys in Beacon Hill. The girls had decided that their tip should be massive, so Buck and Baron had bought a small building for a song and had it renovated and sent the boys stateside to set them up. They were incredibly excited and had been contracted to tend to Fi’s brownstone in her absence. They were all vetted and insured for her security and would be living close by her residence. One of the three would be retained on island at all times, and two would be in Boston, making money for the estate with plenty available for the boys to split. Baron had security cameras and a security system installed, and also hired a security detail to serve as a receptionist to monitor all monies coming in to avoid any problems with accounting.
Fi was enjoying Boston like never before. Baron was in full court press mode. He was escorting her to Boston Pops, the symphony, all of Boston’s best seafood restaurants, and the theatre. She had done it all before, but never in such style. They rode in limos and in horse drawn carriages, they took the swan boats in the park. They drank champagne as usual, and strolled through the park like the other lovers. They talked about their hopes and dreams and the children they were going to have. Fi was falling in love like never before. Baron was more confident than ever his plans were coming to fruition.
Fi had located her replacement and had decided she couldn’t part with her place, and was pleased with the arrangements that Baron had made for her. She was comfortable with the boys watching her house, and had made her own specific instructions with her own security company. The Boston PD could intervene if there was a B&E and would be on notice that she was out of the country. They had many other citizens in that situation, and had a protocol for such things.
Fi would be returning to the island within a couple of weeks. She just needed to see her family and introduce her man before they left. She thought she would like to find a wedding dress in New York, and that would be the last detail before she walked into her new life. It almost took her breath away….
Rocks was preparing to welcome the first of her rotating surgeons to Fire Island Clinic. Gee was a general and vascular surgeon from Florida who had worked with her for several years. Since Florida had accepted so many low income patients into the new insurance pool, there were scads of patients waiting for elective surgery, and the health system was bursting at the seams. Everyone was stressed out. Labs, Xray departments, ORs, they were all busy and everyone was working nights and weekends to keep up. Rocks wouldn’t have wanted to be an anesthesiologist at home anymore! Work more for less money, how would that be for a retirement plan? Make up in volume what you can’t get in profits? Really? She was realizing how much more volume the clinic was going to see, but it was going to get the cash to go with it. Gee had a few gallbladders, a couple popliteal bypasses, and a mastectomy. He was already scheduling a second set of patients a couple months out. They had been pretty good friends, and he wanted to go sailing while he was here. He had no idea about her engagement, so that was going to be hot news. She was going to discuss putting him up in the estate, and she was sure Buck would go for it. She wasn’t going to make that a habit though.
It had been about a month, and she wondered what Dragon Lady was up to. Walter was working at the hospital, although his priveleges were limited because of the case that went bad. He was on probation for six months, so Rocks was sure he was as difficult as ever. If she never heard from either one of them, it would be too soon! Orthopedics at the clinic was sure to stay busy, so she had Nils in the credentialing process. He had a few more red carpet events, but was almost ready to come aboard. Fi was on the way, and her plans were almost complete! Groundbreaking on Firefly Clinic was about to happen, they were awaiting Baron’s return for that. Another champagne event for sure….
